World's Second Largest Anime Downloader

Today is the third day of my 5 day break. Shiok. I haven't had a 5 day break since Feb, where I was on 1 month's hospitalisation leave lol. I had wished that my back condition was serious enough to warrant an operation. At one point I was SURE there was no way to alleviate the pain apart from one, that i was begging the doctor to gimme the go ahead. I suppose the half a yr mc makes the back incision worthwhile.
Anw today the papers wrote about Singaporeans downloading the second most anime in the world, and behind only USA, and that considering a population of our size it's just " ridiculous . I know the anime companies are concerned about their sales but I no here to talk about the ethics. I take issue with the word "ridiculous" (yea mebbe i'm too free.)
"RIDICULOUS" has synonyms such as absurd; preposterous; laughable. I for one don't think that being the world's second highest anime downloader is absurd or preposterous or laughable. If you analyse our unique situation you will understand why.
1. For some reason unknown to me Americans seem to have taken an obsessive liking to Anime. Fansub groups are springing up all over uncle sam's pasture quicker than a desert bloom, to sub the popular animes into other non-japanese languages for the global population to enjoy. Of course the predominant subtitle language is English.
2. Anw Singaporeans, due to our relative close proximity to Japan, have caught up with this craze. WE WORSHIP ANIME. AND WE UNDERSTAND ENGLISH! That's why we download more MBs of it than all bar USA. In my opinion Anime is far more pervasive than we think, but unique problems existing in other countries might hinder its spread of influence.
3. For example, MALAYSIA AND INDONESIA speak too much bahasa, how to expect them to understand...
4. Taiwan loves anime too, but do they understand enough english to watch the bulk of fansubbed episodes?
5. THE UNITED KINGDOM: bastion and propagator of the Queen's English which my old lit tcha (who played soccer in southampton) used to advocate. But like I mentioned, they're too caught up with soccer, booze and the spice girls to care about Anime. Geographical distance, skin color (dun say i'm racist. i kena spit by a man in london b4. might be a serbian like sinisa mihajlovic taking a stroll after a championsleague match, but of course i'd conveniently think that he was english), culture, political ideology and any other reasons you can find in any history textbook will account for this difference.
So there. EAT it. It's not so ridiculous after all dun u think?
