POI training and my troubles
My protection of installation training package has made me more vigilant even when i am off duty, roving the ill-perceived safe streets of Singapore as a civilian. The bomb scare in UK has made me up my vigilance to a level bordering on paranoia, but if you had access to the classified and secret military intelligence I have you definitely wouldn't take things for granted. Everytime I see someone talking on the handphone I will imagine it is a casing for an IED (improvised explosive device), which is a bomb made using commonly found materials, a technique often utilised to devastating effects by terrorists. When I looked at the police force protecting the expo today, I couldn't help but sympathise with their plight, as I myself guard an airbase and I know the feeling of uselessness one gets when one knows that the volume of people present simply makes it near impossible to prevent someone from smuggling an IED in. However I smirk when I look at the old revolvers the police carry around. Compared to the slick sig sauers I wield those are child's play. There have been many changes in my life recently, both internal and external. One would be my handwriting, which has decreased in size for some unknown reason. I just feel like writing smaller letters. I wouldn't call them bad mishaps, although they do lead to a certain extent of disappointment. I have been feeling, for a while, that I am biting off more than I can chew, attemping more than I can cope, so I am not really surprised when things fall apart. This is a good test of patience for me and I am determined to see it through. If you want to know the juicy details, ask me personally. I am having my marksmanship badge test this monday. As every leftie knows, we are at a great disadvantage when it comes to shooting. The M16 rifle is reasonably designed so that lefties face minimal trouble in operating it,(as compared to the other mediocre designs singapore technologies engineers, which are so leftie unfriendly I did not even feel a sense of pity when I had to miss the GPMG and MATADOR live firing) but the design of the helmet leaves much to be desired. Good shooters rest their cheeks on the butt of the weapon, but it is simply impossible for lefties, because of the thick, hard and smooth buckle which gets between raw skin and the butt of the rifle, causing it to slide all over your cheek, leading to inaccurate shooting. Nevertheless, I will still attempt to conjure up a mighty effort of scintilating sharp-shooting to achieve the marksmanship badge so that I can wear it with the honor and pride of an elite soldier.
