supamun's Diaryland Diary

Yuri the fisherman set off with Zeracle the shapeshifter, his trusted companion, toward the Mlavean river. It was a peaceful half-morning, and the two of them journeyed spiritedly, enjoying each other's company whilst taking in all the forest had to offer: birds chirping, leaves rusling and intermittent rays of sunshine breaking through the thin forest canopy. It was spring, it was surreal, it was magical.
However, the nagging doubt that Yuri had tried so hard to supress while in Zeracle's presence, kept knawing at him. And the spirits of the forest whispered in disapproving unison. A coupling between a shapeshifter and a human was previously unheard of: How could a spirit coexist with a a mortal? But Yuri's heart was so lost in her... surely it would be impossible to turn back now... Beautiful as she may seem, Zeracle, a distant cousin of the succubus, possessed a dark and forbidding aura about her. An aura of discord, of darkness... and death.
After 2 hours, the couple finally came upon the clearing, and lay down their baggage on weathered marble. This being the first time Zeracle had come fishing with him, Yuri was eager to impress. But definitely a little apprehensive. For many weeks now, since he had gotten together with Zeracle, the river had gradually starved him of its bounty. To others, it was generous and compassionate, to him, stern and unyielding. Mouthing a silent prayer to Arsha, Goddess of the water, Yuri cast his net... And the waters stirred and rushed toward them angrily.
Before she knew it Zeracle was swept off her feet by the fearsome rapid... with Yuri just able to hold on to a jutting tree root, but unable to do much more, as he desperately watched her flailing arms signal to him for help... Tearing his heart apart as she did...Till she was just a speck on the horizon... and then nothing more.
The water spirits had heeded the call of Arsha and banished her. I wanted to write the ending, but I can't do justice to this story. So it's your call.

Car accident

I stood at the traffic light, waiting to cross the street. It was dark, cloudy and surreal, the moon the only source of illumination suspended in that eerie night sky.

She stood next to me agitatedly. Her thoughts were firmly on her family dinner appointment, of which she was running late for. The coast was clear. There was no reason to wait for the lights to turn green.

She started to cross her road. I watched her hurry down. She traversed 1 lane... 2 lanes... 3 lanes... and arrived at the centre partition. 4 lanes... and that's when I saw it. A car zigzagged it's way toward this unsuspecting victim. Stealthy as a thief, it stole through the night, and as it neared, I made out a manic glee and slits of eyes bent on carnage behind its wheel.

The woman stood terrified and transfixed, like many an accident victim. She willed her legs to flee, but they stubbornly stood rooted in fear. Her pupils widened as her life flashed by her. Would this be where it ended?

There was no time to think. I charged across the road straight for her and attempted a Herculean lunge... pushing her out of harm's way... and breathed my last as steel and glass collided with me. I was flung off the vehicle's bonnet and landed in a pool of blood 15 metres away.

I can't conclude the story in any other way. In my mind the guy dies.
